Central Methodist University sophomore Breilly Roy of Trenton was crowned the 2015 North Central Missouri Fair Queen during ceremonies on Tuesday night in the Rock Barn courtyard.
Miss Roy was selected from among five candidates and will represent the local fair in the 2016 Misouri State Fair Queen competition at Sedalia. As the 2015 titleholder, Miss Roy received a $350 scholarship to North Central Missouri College or $300 to the school of her choice, a tiara, a sash, a bouquet of flowers and her entry fee paid for the state fair queen contest next year.
Named first runner-up was Rebecca Tate of Laredo, a student at North Central Missouri College. Emily Torrey of Humphreys, a student at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, was named the second runner-up. They both received a $100 scholarship to the school of their choice and a bouquet of flowers.
The queen competition was among several activities that opened the NCM Fair, which continues through Saturday.
Parade
The NCM Fair Parade was held on Tuesday evening. Trophy winners included:
Oldest Farm Tractor – Neil Peery, 1933 F20 Farmall.
Best Non-Business Float – Trenton FFA.
Best Clown – Kidridge Griffin.
Largest Family in the Parade – David Cannon.
Most Unusual Entry – Lowell Gates.
Best Restored Tractor Driven in Parade – Quentin Brown, 1959 JD 630 Tractor/Wagon.
Oldest Man In Parade - Max Oyler, 97 years.
Couple Married the Longest - Brian and Jackie Altenderfer, 35 years.
Oldest Woman in the Parade – Lois Beaver, 85 years.
Best Restored Motor Vehicle – Micky Lovett.
Oldest Motor Car or Truck Driven in the Parade – John Urich.
Best Business Float – Home Exchange Bank.
Best Matched Horses or Ponies Ridden in Parade – North Missouri Livestock Market.
Most Unusual Horse-Drawn Vehicle – Melissa Wray, Cole and Mia Whitham.
Saddle Club with Largest Number of Horses in Parade – Angy Bulls Rodeo Riders.
Best Dressed Saddle Club in Club Colors – North Missouri Saddle Club.
Best Dressed Horse and Rider, Male – Lynn Westcott.
Best Dressed Horse and Rider, Female – Carol Westcott.
Achievement Day
Grundy County 4-H members took part in Achievement Day activities on Monday and many of the projects were entered for display at the NCM Fair.
Blue, red and white ribbons were awarded to the projects, with several selected for inclusion in the state fair exhibits at Sedalia later this month. Best of Show recognition was also given.
Members receiving Best of Show honors for their projects were Robert Urich (2), Haley Kidd (2), Padyn Gibson, Abby Simpson, Levi Johnson, Gracyn Rongey, Katelyn Clark, Rebecca Urich, Malea Farmer (2), Abbye Johnson, Cade Claycomb (2) and Morganne Farmer.
Entries qualifying for state were made by Kidridge Griffin, Robert Urich (2), Haley Kidd, Padyn Gibson (3), Anna Hines, Gracyn Rongey, Katelyn Clark (2), Latorrie Johnson (2), Rebecca Urich, Levi Johnson, Gaven Kelsall, Tegan Kelsall, Haley Kidd (3), Malea Farmer (2), Abbye Johnson, Cade Claycomb and Morganne Farmer.
Receiving ribbons were Kidridge Griffin, 2 blue; Robert Urich, 2 blue, 3 red; Rebecca Urich, 2 blue; Haley Kidd, 2 blue; Levi Johnson, 5 blue, 1 red; Gaven Kelsall, 4 blue; Anna Hines, 3 blue, 2 red; Allena Allen, 1 blue, 1 red blue; Padyn Griffin, 3 blue; Abby Simpson, 4 blue, 1 red; Kimberly Clark, 3 blue; Latorrie Johnson, 7 blue, 3 red, 1 white; Gracyn Rongey, 4 blue, 1 red; Katelyn Clark, 6 blue; Tegan Kelsall, 6 blue; Haley Kidd, 6 blue; Malea Farmer, 2 blue, 1 red; Abbye Johnson, 1 blue; Claire Myers, 1 blue; Grace Myers, 2 blue; Cade Claycomb, 3 blue; and Morganne Farmer 2 blue, 1 red.
Today’s activities included a swine show during the day and a goat show at 6:30 tonight at the pavilion. Tonight’s grandstand entertainment, a Super Team Farmer contest, has been cancelled due to the rain and will not be scheduled.
Thursday’s schedule includes The rabbit and poultry show at 9 a.m., the dairy show at 21 p.m. and the Tuff Truck competttion at 7 p.m. at the grandstand. Entries will also be accepted from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. for the NCM Flower Show.
