Seven students in the 2015 Harrison County R-4 senior class at Gilman City were the recipients of $500 scholarships in memory of Nicholas Henson Burrows, who would have been a member of the class. Nicholas, son of Mary and Dennis Burrows of Gilman City, died in 1998 of bacterial meningitis at the age of 13 months. In the past, one or two students had been chosen to receive the scholarship, but this year, all students who are choosing to continue their education received the scholarship, including, from left, Morgan Mulnix, Ashley Tucker, Alec Sievering, Miles Ward, Morgan Reed, Kady Sperry and Mikayla Toombs. Class members purchased a bench for the school and planted a tree in his memory at the school. This is the 17th year the scholarship has been presented and is the last time it will be presented. Nicholas was the grandson of Everett and Leontine Burrows of Gilman City and Theresa Henson of Bethany.
