Ethel A. McCully, an 84-year-old Trenton resident, died Sunday morning, July 5, 2015 at Saint Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza in Kansas City.
The body was cremated under the direction of Slater Funeral Home, with a celebration of life to be held at a later date.
Mrs. McCully was born May 31, 1931 in Melbourne, the daughter of Loren Bentley and Minnie Ann Long Gott. She attended Trenton and Galt schools.
Before retiring she worked at Grand River Press, Cisco Brown Drug Store, Wright Memorial Hospital and owned Fair’s Fountain, all of Trenton.
She was a member of Edinburg Baptist Church.
On Aug. 17, 1947 she was married to Ted J. McCully at Galt. He preceded her in death on March 28, 1985.
She is survived by three daughters, Melinda Thorne of Chula, Debbie Harrington of Trenton and Kathy Forson of Nixa; two brothers, Charles Gott of Trenton and Robert Gott of Galt; five grandchildren, Marty Thorne, Heather Evans, Marci Cline, Chelsea Ridings and Tanner Forson; six great-grandchildren, Aaron Thorne, McKenna Cox, Mylee Baker, Maxx Baker, Rhett Evans and Tucker Cline.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Goldsby and Linda Douglas; and a granddaughter, Erin Thorne.
