Four DAWGS took part in the Special Olympics Flag Football Clinic in Kansas City on Friday, June 5, hosted by Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles. The athletes worked on skill and drill stations to improve speed and agility, passing/throwing, catching on the run and pass, formations and flag pulling. At the end of the drills, they enjoyed scrimmages with Charles right in the middle of the action. Charles told the athletes in his opening remarks that he was diagnosed with a learning disability while he was in school and was bullied, but to overcome that he became active in sports with Special Olympics and his success is the result of his desire to never give up. He gave that same advice to those in attendance. The DAWGS in attendance and pictured with Jamaal Charles were, from left, Jeffrey Jackson, Charles, Pierce Rash, James Ross and August Meinhardt.
