Funeral services for Dorothy Sarah Roberts are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2015 at Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home in Trenton. Burial to follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Gallatin.
A scheduled visitation is one hour prior to the service. Open visitation is under way at the funeral home.
Mrs. Roberts, a 90-year-old Trenton resident, died at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.
Mrs. Roberts was born on Jan.17, 1925 in Cainsville, the daughter of Sam and Alta Yarnall McGill. She was married on Jan. 1, 1952 to Edward Clingan Roberts, who preceded her in death on June 15, 1986.
She lived her entire life in Trenton. She was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 37 years as a switchboard operator. She also raised pedigree poodles.
She enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren. She volunteered at the senior center and traveled with the OATS bus. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers organization and the OATS Bus Advisory Board.
She is survived by her daughters, Julia Ann Schroeder and Robyn J. Roberts, both of Bowie, MD; grandchildren, Ronda Schroeder of Independence, Randy Schroeder and his wife, Marcia of Trenton and RyLee Roberts of Bowie; great-grandchildren, Terry Lohman of Alton, IL and Sarah, Becky, and Allison Schroeder of Trenton; and great-great-grandchildren, Christian Claessen of Kansas City, Destiny Stantruff of Alton, Lyric and Lia Podhorn of Alton and Jaxon Schroeder of Trenton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Bobby Clingan Roberts; and a sister, Myrtle McGill.
