Roy Junior Deskins, a 95-year-old resident of Mulkeytown, IL and former Trenton resident, died on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at West Side Care Center in West Frankfort, IL.
The body was cremated.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the Edinburg IOOF Cemetery with Rev. Doug Crawford officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Slater Funeral Home at Trenton.
Mr. Deskins was born on Feb. 10, 1920 in Brimson, the son of Roy Cleveland and Maggie M. Drake Deskins. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marines. He retired from Trenton Foods after 25 years of employment.
He was married on Oct. 3, 1945 in Manhattan, KS to Alverta Smith, who preceded him in death on Oct. 6, 1988.
He was then married at Edinburg to Bertha Jane Sanders, who preceded him in death on Oct. 12, 2014.
Survivors include two sons, Roy Mont Deskins and his wife, Gwen of St. Joseph and Ashley Deskins and his wife, Tammy of Coffey; one step-daughter, Donna Eldridge of Conroe, TX; two step-sons, James Sanders of Buckner, IL and Paul Sanders and his wife, Cynthia of Mulkeytown; five grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives; three sisters, Imogene Fitzpatrick, Velma McCloud and Lorraine Zelenok; and four brothers, Virgil Deskins, Charles Deskins, Paul Deskins and Harvey Deskins.
