17-Year Cicada Makes Way To Grundy County

May 29, 2015 | Headline News

Photo Courtesy of Trish Wendt The 17-year cicadas have made their way to Missouri and Grundy County, with these being found on the Wayne Wendt farm on Route WW, west of Trenton. The cicadas have been there for about a week and, according to Mrs. Wendt, have been making their home primarily in small fruit trees located on their farm. The biggest concern about the cicadas is the females leaving eggs on the branches of the trees, causing extensive damage. A story about the cicada invasion in Missouri appears on page 4 of today’s Republican-Times.
