Amber Haley Stiles, an 88-year-old Princeton resident,died at 1:58 a.m. on Monday, May 25, 2015 at Pearl’s II Eden for Elders in Princeton.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Resthaven Mortuary in Trenton. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
Open visitation is under way at the funeral home.
Mrs. Stiles was born on Aug. 20, 1926 in Half Rock, the daughter of Ora Frank and Hope Golden Haley She graduated from Princeton High School in 1945. On Oct. 20, 1946 she was married to Harley Edward Stiles at their minister’s home in Princeton. Together they farmed and raised cattle in Mercer County until moving to Gallatin in 1985 and Versailles in 1987, where Harley managed ranches. They moved to Savannah in 1993 to be near their daughter. Mrs. Stiles later moved to California and then back to Princeton in 2004.
She was a member of the California First Baptist Church and enjoyed volunteering for the California and Savanah Baptist churches and the Savanah nursing home.
Surviving relatives include her son, Ed Stiles of Princeton; daughters, Gayle Lynn Coon of Crane, Amber Harlene Dougan of Princeton and Patricia Anne Hartman and her husband, Junior of Wathena, KS; a foster son, Greg Reger and his wife, Dena of Princeton; a sister, Joy Powell of Princeton; 15 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Those preceding her in death include her parents, her husband and a son-in-law, Don Dougan.
Memorial donations are suggested to either Hospice Advantage or the Mercer County Ambulance and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
