The Princeton R-5 Board of Education held a special board meeting Wednesday which included a public hearing on capital facilities lease financing.
According to information provided by Superintendent Dr. Robert Newhart, patrons were given an opportunity to voice their opinions on the options and costs in regard to various projects, with the main focus on the repair and maintenance of the high school roof, the Stacy Center roof, high school and Stacy Center HVAC replacement, Stacy Center gym floor replacement, computer server room HVAC options and other minor school repairs and improvements. It was agreed that the facility committee will meet at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, with the board to hold a special meeting on Thursday, June 4 for the purpose of finalizing a decision on a lease finance option for facility improvements.
In other business, the board established a policy that the district would cover costs for state and national events, but not international events. An update was provided regarding CTS and their potential contract, with no decisions made. It was agreed that a school district surplus sale will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 4. Proposed changes to the student handbook were presented by Elementary Principal Dana Seymour were approved.
Under new business, Natalie Mounce of the Mercer County Health Department made a presentation regarding health index results of the elementary building and an update was presented and discussed regarding non-certificated and certificated classification policy.
Ms. Seymour and High School Principal Tamie Miller verbally reported that the end of school activities went very well and congratulated staff on an excellent job this year.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for June 8.
