Gary L. Dunn, a 77-year-old resident of Moline, IL, formerly of Trenton, died on Sunday, May 17, 2015, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity Rock Island in Rock Island, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. in Moline. Burial will be at National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal where military honors will be conducted.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the funeral home.
Mr. Dunn was born on March 27, 1938, in West Liberty, IA, the son of Mardis N. and Catharine N. Hughes Dunn. He married on Jan. 31, 1959 in Princeton to Orenda Trumbo. He worked as an assembler for John Deere, retiring in 1998, and attended Homewood Church.
Mr. Dunn was a veteran, serving the United States Navy. While in the Navy, he was a Sonarman SO3 on Destroyer DL4 USS Willis A. Lee. He was later involved with DLA Destroyer Leader Association.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a member of Ducks Unlimited. He was a life-long Cardinal fan and in his younger years, he was a coach for Dad’s Club baseball.
He and his wife wintered the last 15 years in Weslaco, TX.
Survivors include his wife, Rendy; children, Paul (Rose) Dunn of Davenport, IA and Kerry (Kathy) Dunn of Green Bay, WI; grandchildren, Timothy Dunn and Isaac Dunn of Green Bay and Charity La Pointe and David Dunn of Davenport, IA; a brother, Neil (Frankie) Dunn of Concord, NC; nephews, Mardis and Joe Dunn; and niece, Sarah McGuire.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rebecca Meeker.
