Fern Foster Wattenbarger Rogers, a 91-year-old resident of Milan, died on Saturday morning, May 16, 2015 at Sullivan County Memorial Hospital in Milan.
Mrs. Rogers was born on Feb. 3, 1924 near Dunlap, the daughter of Wesley Everett and Josie Viola Baugher Foster. She was baptized into the Harris Baptist Church in 1942 at the age of 18, changing her membership to the Newtown Baptist Church in 1956. In 1975 she changed it to the First Baptist Church in Milan, where she was still a member.
She was married on June 23, 1947 to Raymond Earl Wattenbarger, who preceded her in death on May 25, 1972. She was married on Aug. 14, 1976 to George C. Rogers, who preceded her in death on May 3, 1978.
Mrs. Rogers enjoyed doing for and giving to others. She enjoyed her work at Banquet Foods, where she worked hard for over 20 years.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and nephews and several step-children.
In additon to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Sanford Foster, her twin, Vern Foster and Fred Foster; and two sisters, Dorothy Propps and Katherine Foster.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today (Tuesday, May 19, 2015) at the First Baptist Church in Milan. Rev. Dan Wilford officiated. Burial was in the Half Rock Cemetery in Spickard.
Music was provided by Keisha Long.
Pallbearers were Colton Wheeler, Brian Long, Chris Bummer, Brian Foster, Roger Long and Jarod Long.
Honorary pallbearers were Fred Foster, Everett Foster, Gary Foster, Gary Christy, James Foster, Chris Foster, Matt Foster, Michael Leck, John Attey, Scott Hollon, Andy Cox and Alex Sadler.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Sullivan County Senior Center, Sullivan County Long Term Care Fund or the Half Rock Cemetery.
Ruschmeier Funeral Home of Milan was in charge of arrangements.
