Funeral services for Geraldine Vivian Long are scheduled for 11a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home in Trenton.
Burial will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Blythedale.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Long, a 96-year-old resident of Trenton, died on Tuesday evening, May 12, 2015 at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.
Mrs. Long was born on Dec. 29, 1918 in Saline, the daughter of Creed and Tacy Peterson Helton. She attended schools in Mercer and Harrison County schools.
She was married in Princeton on Feb. 23, 1935 to Gerald Long, who preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 1977. They lived near Cainsville until they moved to Trenton in 1951.
She was a member of the Trenton Church of The Nazarene and the Royal Neighbors of America. She enjoyed sewing, making cookies, riding horses and walking.
Mrs. Long is survived by her daughter, Margorie Spencer and her husband, Neil of Browning, M; her grandchildren, George Spickard of Savannah, Teresa Spencer of St. Peters, Leann Long of Tucson, AZ, Jim Spencer of Milan, Elizabeth Chicote and her husband, Jason of Frisco, TX, and Sarah Chase and her husband, Lester of Jacksonville, NC; a step-granddaughter, Melinda Kimmis and her husband, Brad of Chillicothe; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Leland Earl Long; a daughter, Tacy Arlene Spickard; and four brothers, Arthur Helton, Martin Helton, Elza Lee Helton and Garland Helton.
Memorials and contributions are suggested to the Cedar Hill Cemetery or the Trenton Church of the Nazarene and can be mailed to or left at the funeral home, 813 Custer, Trenton, MO 64683.
