Laredo Board OKs Non-Certified Salaries

The Laredo Board of Education approved non-certified salary increases during its meeting on Monday night.
According to information provided by Superintendent Phil Fox, the board agreed to a 3.5 percent increase for all non-certified staff and bus drivers. This will include Susan Cooksey, Debbie Riddle, David Davis, Jeni Moore, Cassidy Bethards, Alex Marsh, Dorothy Chapman, Mona Loyd, Charles Bowe and Larry Loyd.
Approval was given to approve a quote from the district’s current health insurance agent, Jeannie Cunningham of Mike Keith Insurance. The insurance will be changing from Assurant Health to Lifestyle Health Plans as of July 1.
Lunch prices were increased by 5 cents, from $2.05 to $2.10. The increase was required to meet federal school lunch requirements.
It was announced the school audit will be held on July 6 and 7. Bids for milk, propane and diesel fuel will be sought and opened at the June meeting, at which time the board will act on changes to the 2015-16 student/faculty handbook. There was a second reading of MSBA policy updates and the board reviewed summer maintenance projects and the budget. The board discussed, but took no action, on weighted grading for Algebra I.
An executive session was held for personnel and a student concern, but no action was taken.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 8.
