Among the recipients of scholarship awards at the Grundy R-5 FFA Banquet were, from left, Mckenna Owens, the National FFA Scholarship; and Emily Torrey, the National FFA Scholarship and the Carolyn Whitney Memorial Scholarship. Both National FFA Scholarships were sponsored by Barnes Baker.
The Star Greenhand award was presented to Madyson Williams and was sponsored by Urich Farms.
The Star Farmer was Rebecca McLain, the Star Agribusiness was Mason Alley, the Star Placement was Emily Kenley and the Star Agri-Science was Emily Torrey.
The Eads Family Loan was presented to Matana Munday.
The DeKalb Award was presented to senior Mckenna Owens. The Carolyn Whitney Memorial Scholarship was presented to Emily Torrey in the amount of $250. The National FFA Barnes-Baker Ford and Dodge Scholarships were presented to Mckenna Owens and Emily Torrey in the amount of $1,000 each.
Greenhand Degrees were awarded to Cayden Bowe, Zach Conger, Dakota Hill, Austin Eckert, Zoe Littleton, Mann Pittman, Jacob Richardson, Carter Searcy, Tyler Stiles, Jonathon Stimpson, Amy Torrey, Braiden Turpin and Madyson Williams.
Chapter Degrees were awarded to Matana Munday, Hunter Shoemaker, Mikayla Smith and Avery Webb.
State Degrees were given to Destin Gann, Mckenna Owens and Emily Torrey at the 2015 Missouri State FFA Convention.
Chapter FFA Leadership Awards were given to members who have received 30 points on the participation chart and include Dakota Hill, Jonathon Stimpson, Braiden Turpin, Madyson Williams, Matana Munday, Avery Webb, Isaac Chamberlain, Kristie Coin, Jodi Dickerson, Darby Golden, Brady Huffman, Haley Johnson, Emily Milazzo, Mason Radcliff, Alex Webb, Mason Alley, Shelby Bummer, Emily Kenley, Mathew McLain, Rebecca McLain, Mckenna Owens and Emily Torrey.
Chapter FFA Scholarship awards were given to students who have outstanding academic achievements. Those recipients included Cayden Bowe, Dakota Hill, Zoe Littleton, Carter Searcy, Madyson Williams, Matana Munday, Hunter Shoemaker, Avery Webb, Isaac Chamberlain, Jodi Dickerson, Darby Golden, Brady Huffman, Haley Johnson, Emily Milazzo, Mason Radcliff, Alex Webb, Mason Alley, Thomas Dalton, Emily Kenley, Mckenna Owens and Emily Torrey.
The top contest team individuals were dairy foods, Shelby Bummer; knowledge, Madyson Williams; farm management, Haley Johnson; nursery landscaping, Emily Torrey; forestry, Mathew McLain; and soils, Darby Golden. All top individuals received a $50 cash award. The Blue and Gold Award was given to Doug’s Market. Honorary degrees went to Steven and Stacy McLain and Punky and Lori Owens.
The 2015-2016 Grundy R-5 FFA Officer team will be Emily Milazzo, president; Avery Webb, vice president; Matana Munday, secretary; Alex Webb, treasurer; Madyson Williams, reporter; Haley Johnson sentinel; and Zoe Littleton, chaplain.
Recognition was given to Farmland, Farmers Bank of Northern Missouri, Wynne Angus Farms, Owens’ Trenching, Urich Farms, the family of Carolyn Whitney, Barnes-Baker, Reggie Grindstaff, Gene and Ann Scheffler, Jenny Gann and Rose Bingham for their assistance with the banquet.
