Dilila M. Tharp Brinnen, an 83-year-old resident of Trenton, died on Saturday morning, May 2, 2015 at Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at the Slater Funeral Home in Trenton with Rev. Doug Crawford officiating. Burial will be in North Evans Cemetery, east of Spickard.
Family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 o’clock tonight (Monday, May 4, 2015) at the funeral home.
Mrs. Brinnen was born on Sept. 10, 1931 in Spickard, the daughter of Alma and May Oyler Kincade. She graduated from Princeton High School. She lived in Spickard, where she was employed as a cook for the Spickard School District before retiring and moving to Trenton.
She was a member of Union (Coon Creek) Baptist Church, west of Trenton.
She was married on May 11, 1949 at Trenton to Jack W. Tharp, who preceded her in death on March 1, 1992. She was married in Trenton on April 11, 1999 to Walter “Cotton” Brinnen, who preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 2014.
Survivors include four daughters Patricia Travis of Liberty, Jackie Marrs of Spickard, Doris Travis and her husband, Martin of Salina, KS and Brenda Fay Tharp of Spickard; two sons, Richard Tharp of Spickard and Wendell Tharp of Spickard; two sisters, Rose Lee Dragoo and her husband, Paul of Boone, IA and Dorthy Bracewell and her husband, Keith of Liberty; three brothers, Donald Kincade and his wife, Jean of Lee’s Summit, Ronald Kincade and his wife, Patsy of Cameron and Robert Kincade and his wife, Alida of Trenton; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She will be missed by several family members, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant brothers; and two granddaughters Stacy Hodge and CJ Chapman.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Cystic Fibrosis. They may be left at the funeral home.
