Pirates Draw Split With Wentworth In Lexington

The North Central Missouri College baseball team was in action on Monday, traveling to Lexington to take on Wentworth Military Academy. The Pirates dropped game one 7-6, but bounced back to take a 10-0 win in game two.
Game One
The Pirates took a 1-0 lead in the second inning only to see Wentworth come back with two runs in the bottom of the frame. The Pirates went back in front with a three-run third inning and led 4-1 entering the bottom of the fourth. Wentworth closed the game strongly, however, picking up two runs in the bottom of the fourth and three in the bottom of the sixth. NCMC had plated one run in the top of the sixth, but were held scoreless in the seventh, falling 7-6.
Landon Figg and Cezan Rafaela were each two-for-three with a run scored in the loss with Rafaela adding a double.
Cody Wade (1-1) was the losing pitcher for the Pirates.
Game Two
There was no back-and-forth action in game two as North Central blasted Wentworth 10-0. The Pirates wasted little time, scoring four runs in the first inning and three more in the second. NCMC added three in the fourth, winning in five innings by the 10-run rule.
Maverich Lourens (1-0) was the winning pitcher, throwing a five-inning shutout, allowing just four hits and one walk while striking out five. Stephen Vidal was two-for-three at the plate with a home run and three RBIs.
The Pirates, now 14-20, take on Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, IA today at 2 o’clock.
