Betty Ballew George McCullough, a 90-year-old former Princeton resident, died on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the North Kansas City Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Princeton with Pastor Gary Watkins officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery northwest of Princeton.
Open visitation will begin at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Home in Princeton, where the family visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Mrs. McCullough was born south of Princeton on June 29, 1924, the daughter of Charles James and Nellie Ann Ballew Scott. She grew up and attended schools in Mercer County and graduated from Princeton High School in 1941.
Mrs. McCullough was employed by the Lambert Hospital for three years. She later became the youth educational assistant for the University of Missouri Extension Service, assisting 4-H and other youth programs, and retired after 20 years. After the death of her husband, Herchal McCullough, she moved to Kansas City to live with her daughter.
Mrs. McCullough is survived by a son, Rick George and his wife, Franny of Atlanta, GA; two daughters, Randi Owen and her husband, Larry of Colorado Springs, CO and Vicki George and her partner, Pat McCarty of Kansas City; three grandchildren, Risa Arsenault of Colorado Springs, Rachel Owen and her husband, Joe of Alexandria, VA and Rebecca Owen of Kansas City; four great-grandchildren, Tylor Owen-Gardino and her husband, Adam and Sunny and Stella Arsenault all of Colorado Springs and Isabella Lestorti of Alexandria; a step-son, Ron McCullough and his wife, Linda of Trenton; a step-daughter-in-law, Karen Todd of Trenton; step-grandchildren, Stephanie and Richard Burnfin and their children, Jonathan and Hannah of Trenton; Michael McCullough of Kansas City; a brother-in-law and wife, Gordon and Betty McCullough of Trenton; and extended family, Paula McCarty and James Haasch and their children, Isabella and Samantha and Pam and Brad Bruse and their children, Sierra and Hannah.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant sisters, and sister, Wilma Elsey; a brother, Charles Scott; and three husbands, Harold George, Wayne George and Herchal McCullough.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Mercer County 4-H Fund, the Missouri 4-H Foundation or the Mercer County Senior Center. Contributions may be mailed to the funeral home at PO Box 316 Princeton, MO 64673.
