FFA Teams Do Well At District CDE Event

The first day of competitions in the Northwest Missouri District Career Development Education contest was held on Tuesday in Maryville, with several area FFA judging teams scoring high marks.
Trenton had six teams in competition, with the horse judging team taking second and the poultry team finishing sixth. Trenton also competed in soils, 11th; dairy foods, 14th; agronomy, 16th; and floriculture, 28th.
Trenton’s Michaela Jaycox was the top individual judge in horse judging, with her teammate Katerina Black finishing ninth. Other team members were Hannah Persell, 14th, and Mason Owen, 20th.
The poultry team’s highest individual judge was Breanna Chambers, who was 10th. Other team members are Jeremiah Lovell, 18th; Lucas Clark, 25th; and Cole Schilling, 34th.
Members of the soils team were Conner Lovell, who was 18th; Jacob Davis, Isaiah Coon and Cade Darting. The dairy foods team members include Karley McCollum, 29th; Alli Shipley-Fair, 33rd; Alexis Hagan and Landon Ellis. Members of the agronomy team included Sarah Walker, 33rd; Emily Lynch and Jasper Hanson. The floriculture team included Elizabeth Leeper and Lauren Dolan.
Princeton’s FFA came home with two first-place team finishes in horse judging and poultry.
All four horse judging team members finished in the top 8, including Shambree Hagan, second; Justin Hamilton, third; Darcee Swartzkopf, seventh; and Kasen Purdun, eighth.
Princeton’s Taylor Honeynutt was the top individual in the poultry judging. Other team members were Blaine Milburn, fourth; Andrew Smith, sixth; and Jaci Lewis, 14th.
Princeton’s soils team was fourth, with Dale Bagley the team’s top judge in eighth place. Juana Jones was ninth, Damien Miller was 19th and Timothy Lehman was 27th.

Floriculture, sixth – Brooke Dustman, seventh; Teresa Childs, 25th; Amy Rexing and Chanda Woodring.
Poultry, fourth – John Swymeler, ninth; Tayleur Dunks, 11th; Kenzy Horton, 29th; and Chassity Smith.
