The North Central Missouri College softball team beat up on the Graceland University junior varsity Thursday, picking up wins of 10-1 and 17-5 at home on Griffin Field in Trenton.
Game One
North Central wasted little time getting on the board with a run in the first inning of game one. The Lady Pirates followed that up with a four-run spot in the second and things snowballed from there as the Lady Pirates piled up three more runs in the third and two in the fourth. The game was called after five innings with North Central up 10-1.
Scotlin Hurley shut down Graceland in the circle, throwing five innings, allowing a single run on three hits and a walk while striking out three.
At the plate, TerriAnna Mohler led the way, going two-for-two with a home run, two RBIs, three runs scored and a stolen base. Arika Ziegler was two-for-three with a double and two runs scored and Courtney Seymour went two-for-three with an RBI, two runs scored and two steals. Jennifer Stock and Rachael Grossman each had an RBI and a steal with Stock adding a double.
Game Two
In game two, the Lady Pirates’ offense picked up right where it left off in game one, scoring four runs in the first inning. Graceland was able to get two in the first, however, and added two more in the second and one in the top of the third to go up 5-4. NCMC responded with a seven-run third inning and then added six in the fourth to put the game out of reach.
Madi Trump had a career day, going three-for-three at the plate with a double, three runs scored and a team-high six RBIs. Tierney Martin went three-for-four with a run and two RBIs and Stock drove in two runs and scored three more. Hurley, Lauren White, Grossman and Lowrey all had RBIs in the game as well.
In the circle, White was the winning pitcher, throwing five innings, allowing five runs, three earned, on six hits and four walks while striking out two.
The sweep improved the Lady Pirates to 14-9 overall on the season and extended their current winning streak to 11 games.
The Lady Pirates will return to action on Tuesday, playing host to Marshalltown Community College at Griffin Field in Trenton. The scheduled doubleheader is set for a 2 p.m. first pitch.
