NCMC Off To 4-0 Start At Tucson Invitational

The North Central Missouri College softball team is off to a strong start at the Tucson Invitational in Arizona. NCMC picked up two wins on Wednesday and two wins on Thursday, pushing their current winning streak to six games.
The Lady Pirates scored two shutouts on Wednesday, defeating Northeastern Junior College 8-0 and Triton College 5-0. On Thursday, NCMC defeated Lamar Community College 3-1 and Ancilla College 13-4.
Wednesday
NCMC got the ball rolling with a win over Northeastern. Lauren White had some of her best stuff in the circle, throwing a five-inning complete game and allowing no runs on just three hits and a walk while striking out two.
The Lady Pirates had a balanced attack at the plate with seven different players recording a hit. Tierney Martin was one-for-two with a triple and a team-high four RBIs. Madi Trump went one-for-two with a home run and two RBIs. Courtney Seymour was one-for-one with two runs scored, an RBI and three stolen bases and Jennifer Stock was one-for-two with a run and an RBI.
In game two on the day, NCMC picked up another shutout with Scotlin Hurley blanking Triton College. Hurley fired a seven-inning one-hitter, walking four and striking out 12 in the win. TeriAnna Mohler led the offense, going one-for-three with a home run and three RBIs. Trump, Stock and Hailey Lowrey all had doubles in the game.
Thursday
The Lady Pirates continued to roll on Thursday, opening with a win over Lamar. Hurley was again the winning pitcher, throwing another seven-inning complete game. She allowed one run on six hits and struck out eight without issuing a walk.
Hurley powered the offense as well, going two-for-four with two RBIs. Rachel Grossman had a hit and drove in the Lady Pirates’ other run. Lowrey doubled twice in the game and scored a run.
Game two saw NCMC’s offense rack up 13 runs on 13 hits and five walks in a win over Ancilla. Lowrey was three-for-four with three RBIs and two runs scored. Mohler went two-for-two with two RBIs and two runs scored and Bailey Perkins went one-for-three with two RBIs and a run scored. Grossman had two hits, a run and an RBI and Seymour had two hits, two runs scored, an RBI and three steals.
In the circle, Bailey Perkins picked up the win, throwing five innings and allowing two earned runs on 10 hits and no walks while striking out one.
With the four victories, the Lady Pirates evened their record on the season at 9-9.
NCMC will be back on the diamond in Tucson today, taking on Triton College once again.
