Winter Sports Teams Honored At Banquet

The annual Trenton Winter Sports Banquet was held on Tuesday night in the THS commons honoring players, managers, cheerleaders and mascots for the winter sports teams. Both the boys and girls basketball and wrestling teams were honored for their accomplishments this past season.
Girls Basketball
The Trenton girls basketball team finished the season at 12-14. The Lady Bulldogs earned a third-place trophy at the Gallatin Tournament but were dealt a blow when they lost leading scorer McKinley Hurley to a knee injury at Holiday Hoops. Trenton would continue to improve throughout the rest of the season, though, and picked up a district victory before seeing its season end in the second round of districts against the top-seeded team.
Individual awards presented on the night went to Whitley Richman, who was the team’s leading scorer, rebounder and leader in steals. Richman was given the team’s most outstanding player award and was a Missouri Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA) All-District selection. Lexie Tolson was given the team’s assists leader award and most dedicated award, Tenna Roberts took home the top defensive player award and Jaylen Neff won the most improved player award. Hurley was honored with the team coaches award for her contributions throughout her career. Hurley was an All-Gallatin Tournament selection, an MBCA All-District selection and a Lions Club All-Star selection.
Other Lady Bulldogs recognized included Katerina Black, Samantha Mihalovich, Jordain Oshel, Lana Raymo, Lauren Dolan, Daryian Otto, Claire Utley, Ally Ockenfels, Nalleli Perez and Ashten Whitaker. Manager Tyler Kidd was also recognized.
Boys Basketball
The Trenton boys ran a record of 10-16 during the season, but 11 of those losses came by five points or less. The boys team was able to hoist a trophy, taking third place at the Hamilton Tournament.
Individual awards presented for the boys’ basketball team saw Cree Mullenix take home the Offensive MVP award, steals award and a co-top rebounder award. He also received an award for hitting the most three-pointers on the team. Mullenix was a MBCA All-District selection and was named to the KKWK All-Star Team. Chris Flowers received the top shot blocker award and was a co-top rebounder award recipient. Kail McCarter earned awards for being the team’s top free throw shooter and was a co-assists award recipient. Cade Mullenix was a co-assists award winner. Spencer Harris received the Bulldog Award for being the most improved player of the year.
Other players honored included Aaron Anderson, Colton Neff, Cade Darting, Hunter Dugan, James Flowers, Kade Ockenfels, Isaiah Renshaw, Connor Cotton, Eddie Delp, Colton Ellis, Tucker Franklin, Ryan Hines, Alex Parrack, Cole Schilling, Trent Crawford, Drice Dillon, Corbyn Guile, Jarren King and Jerry Reeder. Managers Mallory Hooyman, Maggie McNabb, Brandon Flowers and Tyler Kidd were also recognized.
Wrestling
The Trenton wrestlers had a 13-6 dual record this season and finished second at the Butler and Lexington tournaments. Trenton was third at the Quad State Tournament and finished fourth as a team at districts.
Individually, Mason Mounce and Thomas Mack each finished second at the state tournament. Mounce and Drew Rorebeck, another state qualifier, both won district championships. Trey Shields also qualified for state. Mack earned academic all-state honors by placing at state and having a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Other individual honors awarded on the night saw Mounce pick up honors for scoring the most pins, takedowns and nearfalls. Mack and Eric Lovett led the team in reversals and Shields had the most escapes.
Other wrestlers honored were Lucas Clark, Conner Lovell, Brendon Johnson, Daniel Rodriguez, Tyler Sayre, Luke Lewis, Austin Burkeybile, Cole Little, Tyler Warner, Nick Gass, Jeremiah Chipps and Terrin Ellis. Managers Jessi Westcott and Kaitlyn Mounce were also recognized.
Cheerleaders And Mascots
Cheerleaders honored on the night included captains Payton Guile and Sheridan Jamvold, Ayron Osborn, Kayley Griffin, Thelma Guerrero, Emma Norris, Karley McCollum, Abbie Shuler and Cassidy Trump.
Mascots honored at the banquet included Kyley Culbertson, Phillip Drennon, Andrea Fritz, Cody Garcia and Rachel Souders.
