Donnie Rex Craig, a 67-year-old resident of Bethany, died on Monday, March 16, 2015 at North Kansas City Hospital.
The body was cremated under the direction of the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service of Lineville, IA. No memorial services are planned at this time.
Mr. Craig was born on Nov. 17, 1947 in Leon, IA, the son of Roy Dean and Mildred Kathleen Stanford Craig. He was raised and lived most of his life in Mercer, where he was a 1965 graduate of Mercer High School. He was an independent truck driver most of his working career, and later worked in the construction and carpentry business. He had been a resident of Bethany for the last several years.
Mr. Craig was first married to Lela McClaflin. This marriage ended in divorce. He later was married to Valinda Turpin, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his two daughters, Kim Hughs and her wife, Sonna Horner of Trenton and Karla Solinger and her husband, Jess of Altoona, IA; his companion, Mary Bartelson of Bethany; three sisters, Pamela Anderson of Eldridge, IA and Martha Clark and Ruth Berndt, both of Mercer; four brothers, Jack, Bob, and Danny Henry, all of Mercer, and Rodney Henry of Roland, IA; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Hubert Henry; and three brothers, Ronnie Stanford, Terry Lee and Richard Henry.
