Barbara Ann Curry, a 78-year-old resident of Princeton, died on Friday, Feb. 20, 2015 at Pearl’s Eden for Elders in Princeton.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015 at the Mercer Baptist Church with Pastor Ron Helton officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Lineville, IA, under the direction of the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service of Lineville and Princeton.
Mrs. Curry was born on June 20, 1936 in Princeton, the daughter of Charles Ernest and Laura Genevieve Snyder Shaffer. She was raised in Mercer County, where she was a 1954 graduate of North Mercer High School. After her graduation she joined the U.S. Air Force on July 27, 1954, serving during the Korean War until her discharge on July 26, 1957.
She was married on Dec. 25, 1958 to Lyle Eugene Curry, who survives of the home in Mercer. Mrs. Curry was a dedicated homemaker for her family and also worked with her husband, Lyle, as bookkeeper for Curry Pest Control. She was an avid reader, a member of the Ragan-Hickman American Legion Post #477 of Mercer, and a senior member of the Mercer Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is also survived by her daughter, Kelli Ann Beavers and her husband, Timothy, of Trenton; her son, Chris Eugene Curry and his wife, Dawna of Corydon, IA; two sisters, Mary Lea McCulley and her husband, Harold of Princeton, and Donna Anderson of Moberly; a sister-in-law, Chastine Haggard, of Mercer; four granddaughters, Brandi Horton, Casey Beavers and Josie and Taylor Curry; a great-grandson, Jacob Horton; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family requests memorial contributions to either the Mercer Baptist Church Acteens or the Evergreen Cemetery. Contributions may be mailed to the funeral home at PO Box 316, Princeton, MO 64673.
