Tri-County Girls 12
The Grundy R-5 girls had no trouble disposing of Tri-County on Tuesday night in Galt, running out to a 25-0 first quarter lead and never looking back. A 13-0 third-quarter run added an exclamation point for the Lady Panthers, who moved to 11-12 overall on the season with the win.
Emily Milazzo had nine points, Matana Munday scored six points and Kelsey Bummer finished with five points. All 12 Lady Panthers scored in the win. Mady Williams added nine rebounds, Emily Kenley had six rebounds, Mckenna Owens had five rebounds, Jodi Dickerson had three steals and Kylie Littleton had five assists for the Lady Panthers. Tri-County was paced by Katana Almond with five points and Tayluer Dunks had four.

The Grundy boys made it a sweep for the home school on senior night, defeating Tri-County in the boys’ contest. The Panthers trailed 20-17 after a quarter of play, but outscored Tri-County 20-12 in the second quarter. After Tri-County closed the gap a bit in the third quarter, Grundy finished the game on a 20-16 run to seal the win.
Brady Huffman led Grundy (5-17) with 20 points and Mason Radcliff added 19 points, nine assists and five steals. Isaac Chamberlin finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds and Mathew McLain had 11 points and 10 rebounds. Seth Riddle added four points, six rebounds and four assists. For Tri-County, Derek Swymeler had 22 points and five assists and Dillon Cook had 17 points, four assists and seven steals. Zack Neeley added 10 points, Johnathon Swymeler had nine points and nine boards, Lance Cook had six point sand six rebounds and Jakobi Welch rounded out the team’s total with two points.

Gilman City Girls 38
The Gilman girls gave Mercer a scare on Tuesday night, but weren’t able to pull off the upset as the Lady Cardinals pulled off a win on Senior Night in Mercer. Mercer took a 15-9 first quarter lead, but Gilman hung around and used a 10-7 third-quarter run to cut Mercer’s advantage to just 38-32 entering the final frame. Mercer prevailed, however, closing the game with a 12-6 run to remain undefeated at 24-0 and 7-0 in HDC Conference play. Gilman City meanwhile, fell to 14-9 and 6-2 in the HDC.
Lindsay Wyatt led Mercer with 20 points, Nicole Kost had 15 and Bailey Owens finished with 10. Gilman got nine points each from Mikayla Toombs and Kady Sperry and Morgan Reed added seven.

The Mercer boys made it a sweep as they took down Gilman City in the boys’ contest. Gilman actually led 17-15 after a quarter, but a 22-8 Mercer run in the second quarter threw the momentum the Cardinals’ way. Mercer outscored Gilman City 13-4 in the third and then held off a Hawks’ rally in the final frame to take the win.
Bryer Noe led Mercer (16-8) with 15 points, Galt Porter had 12 and Cash Hartley finished with 11. Gilman City (3-19) got 22 from Cornelius Peery and Shane Arnold added 13.

The Princeton boys kept themselves alive in the race for the Grand River Conference title with a come-from-behind victory over Gallatin Friday in Princeton.
After Princeton led 10-6 in the first quarter, Gallatin came back to take a 24-18 halftime lead and a 43-32 lead entering the fourth quarter. Princeton closed the game with a 17-4 run in the fourth quarter, however, picking up the two-point win.
Brant Faulkner had 19 points to lead Princeton (20-4, 7-1 GRC). Stephan Elliott added 12 points for the Tigers.

The Princeton girls were handed a loss by Gallatin. Princeton fell behind 2-5 in the first quarter and couldn’t recover as Gallatin showed the way from start to finish.
Princeton was paced by Paige Phillips who scored 19 points in the loss. Sierra Dinsmore added nine for the Lady Tigers (7-17, 1-7 GRC).
