The Board of Public Works of Trenton Municipal Utilities held a special meeting on Wednesday evening at Trenton City Hall approving bids and discussing utility rates and the 2015-16 budget
The board approved a bid from Asplundh for tree trimming around utility lines this year. TMU will spend up to $25,000 for the work and it was the only bid received.
A bid of $12,271 was accepted from Gerken Environmental of Kansas City for removal of asbestos at the power plant. It was the only bid received for the work.
Also approved was a bid from Insituform of Belton to line sewer mains in the area of 13th Court and Harris Avenue and 20th and Merrill Streets. A total of 979 feet of sewer will be lined at a cost of $39,111.05. It was the lowest of two bids received and the company will begin work in mid-summer. A second bid was received in the amount of $58,164 and that company could begin the work in late March.
All votes on the bids were 4-0 and the bids will now go to the City Purchasing Committee for approval.
The board held a lengthy discussion concerning utility rates and the 2015-16 budget but no action was taken.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the board is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 24.
