Gloria Jean Hamilton, an 87-year-old resident of Trenton, died at her home on Tuesday evening, Feb. 3, 2015.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Rev. Steve Bramblett officiated.
Grandsons Jeremiah Hamilton and James Hamilton sang “The Old Rugged Cross.” The grandchildren sang “In the Garden” and a recording of “Beyond the Sunset” was played.
Pallbearers were Chad Hamilton, James Hamilton, Chris Hamilton, Mike Hamilton, Jeremiah Hamilton, Jared Hamilton, Casey Kitchen and Mel Patton.
Honorary pallbearers were Jeana Anderson, Shelly Sanders, Phoebe Duff and Jamie Richter.
Burial was in the Hamilton Cemetery near Modena. A visitation was held from 7 until 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 6, 2015 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hamilton was born on March 29, 1927 in Osgood, the daughter of George Archibald and Ina Ellen Meeker Hamilton. She graduated from Galt High School. She was married in Olathe, KS on Sept. 17, 1947 to Basil Rex Hamilton Sr. She worked at Trenton Foods for 33 years as a lead person until her retirement. Her family will always remember her as a loving mother and grandmother who loved to shop.
She was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and a past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include her daughter, Roberta Patton and her husband, Melvin of Sebastian, FL; sons, John Hamilton of St. Charles, David Hamilton and his wife, Anne of Kansas City, Jim Hamilton and his wife, Sharon of Trenton and Junior Hamilton and his wife, Denise of Tindall; sisters, Betty Ralls of Trenton, Sondra Boyd of Humphreys, Judy Shuler of Trenton, Berdie Wilson of Trenton and Patty McLaughlin of Jamesport; brothers, Ronald Hamilton of Jamesport and Willard Hamilton of Laredo; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great- and great-great grandchildren.
Those preceding her in death include her parents; her husband; a son Jerry Hamilton; two brothers Donald Hamilton and Jan Hamilton; sisters Janice Williams, Mary Lou Russell, and Nancy Carter; a daughter-in-law Penny Hamilton; a grandson, Paul Baker; a sister-in-law, Lorene Meeker; and brothers-in-law, Vaughn Meeker, Joseph Ralls, Tommy Mitchell and Larry Wilson.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Hamilton Cemetery and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
