The Grundy R-5 High School basketball teams picked up an HDC Conference sweep Thursday night, defeating Newtown-Harris at home.
In the girls game, Grundy jumped out to a 15-8 lead and never looked back. The Lady Panthers led 47-21 entering the fourth quarter and coasted to the win.
Matana Munday led Grundy (6-7) with 17 points and 10 rebounds and Kylie Littleton added 12 points and four steals. Zoe Littleton had 12 points, six rebounds and four steals.
In the boys’ contest, Grundy led early, but just 13-10 after the first quarter and 19-15 at halftime. The second half was a different story, however, as Grundy outscored Newtown 21-6 in the third quarter and 14-2 in the fourth for the win.
The Panthers (3-10) were led by Mason Radcliff who had 17 points, seven assists and three steals. Brady Huffman added 12 points and 10 rebounds and Seth Riddle had 10 points and four assists. Mason Alley had nine points.
Grundy plays host to Mercer tonight at 6 o’clock.
