The Princeton High School boys’ basketball team will be playing for the South Harrison Tournament championship after defeating the host school in the semifinals Thursday night, 54-42.
Princeton held a slim 11-10 lead after the first quarter, but opened the margin up to seven points by halftime. South Harrison hung tight in the third quarter, shaving the lead to 35-30, but the Tigers put the game away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 19-12.
Devin Purvis scored 15 points, knocking down four three-pointers in the game to lead the Tigers, who also got 14 points from Brant Faulkner. Stephan Elliott added eight points, Justin Hamilton had six, Hunter Boxley scored five and Drew Cox finished with four.
With the win, Princeton improved to 10-3 overall on the season. The Tigers will play for the championship on Saturday. Tip time in Bethany is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
