Jan 12, 2015 | Headline News

Women from Trenton and Princeton were injured in two one-vehicle accidents over the weekend.
On Saturday afternoon, Erma Shanks, 80, of Trenton received moderate injuries in an accident on Route Y, eight miles northeast of Trenton. The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Mrs. Shanks was the driver of a northbound vehicle that failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off the east side the road. The car hit a road sign, drove through a fence, struck a piece of farm machinery and then struck a stock trailer before coming to rest on its wheels against a post, facing north.
Mrs. Shanks was taken by the Grundy County Ambulance Service to Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton for treatment. The vehicle received extensive damage.
Cpl. J.A. Pithan investigated the accident, assisted by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department.
On Sunday night, Bethany McClellan, 27, of Princeton, received minor injuries in an accident that occurred on Highway E, six miles northwest of Milan in Sullivan County.
The patrol said Ms. McClellan was the driver of a SUV that was westbound and travelled off the right side of the road. The vehicle then re-entered the road and went off the left side, coming to rest on its top.
Ms. McClellan was transported to the Sullivan County Memorial Hospital in Milan by the Sullivan County Emergency Management Services. The SUV was demolished.
Trooper Dunn, assisted by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, investigated the accident.
