REAP Grant Deadlines Announced

Jan 7, 2015 | Headline News

Missouri Rural Development State Director Janie Dunning has announced application deadlines for the Rural Energy for America Program.
The announcement follows the publication of a Notice of Solicitation of Applications and Fiscal Year 2015 REAP Final Rule in the Federal Register on Dec. 29. REAP provides financial assistance to rural small businesses and agricultural producers for the purchase of renewable energy systems and energy efficiency improvements.
“REAP is a community and economic development program. Any time a program can reduce costs for producers and businesses, the result is improved community stability and vitality,” Ms. Dunning commented. “Through REAP, projects are funded which reduce operating costs for businesses, farmers and ranchers. These projects not only assist community and economic development, but the energy savings and energy advancements extend the life of existing energy resources and contribute to preserving a healthy ecosystem.”
Three application deadlines were established in the NOSA. The deadline for Energy Audit and Renewable Energy Development Assistance grant applications (eligible to universities and colleges, local or state governments and utilities) is Feb. 12. Agricultural producers and rural small businesses are eligible to apply for renewable energy system and energy efficiency grants for up to 25 percent of the eligible project cost. The deadlines for renewable energy systems and energy efficiency improvements grants are April 30 and June 30. Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis following the application deadlines, until available program funds are exhausted. Guaranteed loan applications will be reviewed on a monthly basis.
