Wellness Challenge Begins This Week

Jan 5, 2015 | Headline News

The 2014 Green Hills Wellness Challenge gets under way this week, with initial weigh-ins taking place on Thursday and Friday at the Ketcham Community Center and Grundy County Health Department.
There is a $10 fee, payable on the day of registration, to help with costs and help boost the prize pool. The contest will run for 12 weeks, with prizes going to all participants losing at least 10 percent of their body weight. In addition, persons with completed journals will have the chance to win one of two memberships to the KCC or one of two one-year subscriptions to the Trenton Republican-Times.
Hy-Vee’s Dietician, Cindy Eivins, will be hosting nutrition classes at the Health Department again this year. There will be a total of three classes during the Wellness Challenge.
Participants from last year’s Wellness Challenge are eligible to win a $300 maintenance prize. This prize will be awarded to the person who has maintained the highest percentage of weight loss since the end of last year’s challenge in April. Weigh-ins for the maintenance prize will be held on Jan. 8-9 at the health department and the KCC during regular business hours. There is no fee to weigh in for the maintenance prize only.
This year’s event is being sponsored by the Grundy County Health Department, the Ketcham Community Center, Hy-Vee and the Trenton Republican-Times newspaper. For more information about the wellness challenge, persons can contact the health department at 359-4196.
