Johann Corrine Kirk, a 75-year-old Trenton resident, died at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014 at her residence where she was under hospice care.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014 at the Edinburg Baptist Church in Edinburg. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
A visitation is scheduled from 7 until 8 o’clock tonight (Monday, Dec. 22, 2014) at the Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton.
Mrs. Kirk was born on March 31, 1939 in Pennsylvania, the daughter George and Ann Goodman. She graduated from Trenton High School and on Dec. 7, 1957 she was married to Lyle Wilson Kirk. They ran a dairy farm until 1994. She also worked in the assessor’s office in the Grundy County Courthouse. The couple were active members of the Edinburg Baptist Church where she was the children’s church teacher for several years. She was also active with special needs groups, coaching for Special Olympics and working with the local DAWGS group.
Surviving relatives include her daughter, Linda Kirk of Chillicothe; sons, Stephen Kirk and his wife, Joyce of Chula and Kevin Kirk and his wife, Patti of Laredo; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Stanley Lyle; and brothers, Bud and George Goodman.
Memorial donations are suggested to either the Edinburg Baptist Church or the DAWGS and may be mailed or left with the funeral home.
