Mary F. Coon, an 87-year-old resident of Trenton, died on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014 at Mosaic Life Care of St. Joseph.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Slater Funeral Home in Trenton.
Mrs. Coon was born on Nov. 5, 1927 in rural Spickard, the daughter of Gwinn and Bessie Lucinda McLaughlin Stamper. She attended Lone Star country and Mercer County schools. She was a former resident of Spickard, moving to Trenton in 2006. She had been employed by Swift Foods, Trenton Foods, the Mercer County Tax Collector, the Trenton Township Tax Collector and Eastview Manor Care Center.
She was a member of the Modena Baptist Church.
She was married on July 3, 1943 at Trenton to Garland E. “Doc” Coon, who preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 2006.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Louise Tracy and her husband, Steve of Trenton; one son, Jerry Coon and his wife, Sue of Trenton; seven grandchildren, Dawn Hayes, Casey Stiles, Lindsey Brewer, Katie Coon, Dalton Preston, Jaci Tracy and Jessica Tracy; four great-grandchildren, Chase Hayes, Brody Hayes, Paiton Brewer and Zeb Wilson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, James Garland Coon; one sister, Naomi Stamper; and two brothers, Elmer McLaughlin and Ben Stamper.
