Funeral services for Lee Smith will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, 2014 at Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton, north of Trenton with military graveside rites to follow.
A scheduled visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014 at the mortuary. Open visitation will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014 and from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Mr. Smith, a 79-year-old resident of Trenton, died at 6:37 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014 at his residence while under hospice care.
Mr. Smith was born on December 7, 1935. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958.
He was married in Miami, OK on June 24, 1961 to Carolyn Turnbull, who preceded him in death on Oct. 22, 2008. He was a retired school teacher and owned and operated Smith Taxidermy service for over 50 years. He was one of the founding fathers of Missouri State Taxidermist Association and also served as vice president.
Mr. Smith is survived by two sons, Greg Smith and his companion, Lorraine Roderick of Trenton and Gary Smith and his wife, Sandy of Brimson; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Freda and Nancy.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Nash.
