Funeral services for Joetha June Ishmael will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014 at the Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
A family visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014 at the mortuary.
Mrs. Ishmael, an 85-year-old Trenton resident, died at 3:05 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014 at Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton.
Mrs. Ishmael was born June 5, 1929 in Laredo, the daughter of Otto and Beulah Sayers Gallatin. She was married on Oct. 3, 1950 to Edgar Ishmael in the Crandall Evangelical United Brethren Church at Trenton. She taught in rural schools during early adulthood and later worked in customer service positions in the community.
She was an avid gardener, loved to share life and had a passion for puppies and children. She served faithfully in nursery ministry at both Grace Full Gospel Church and at Lighthouse Chapel. She was currently a member of Trenton First Assembly of God Church.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Edgar, of the home; a son, Rodney Ishmael and his wife, DeVonna of Guatemala; six grandchildren, Amanda Ishmael, Zach (Kelsee) Ishmael, Kristina (Ryan) Peters, David (April) Ishmael, Nathan (Heather) Ishmael and Joy (Nathanael) Merrill; and nine great-grandchildren, Ava, Audrey, Aiden, Ashton, Elijah, Isaiah and Ezekiel Ishmael and Leila and Kylie Merrill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Rick Ishmael; and a brother, Gerald Gallatin.
