The Trenton Middle School basketball teams were at home on Monday night, hosting South Harrison in four games. Trenton won the girls’ A game 47-17, but lost the boys’ A game 46-21. In B team action, the Trenton girls won 31-10 while the boys fell 43-17.
A Games
The girls’ A team moved to 9-0 with yet another impressive victory. Trenton ran out to a 12-0 first quarter lead and never looked back, controlling the tempo of the game from start to finish.
“We were very good in our half-court defense in the first quarter,” Coach Ched Hurley said. “We did not press as well in the second quarter and got into a little foul trouble, but still outscored (South Harrison). We really played good half court defense. Our girls were talking and really pressured and that was the biggest difference.”
Trenton’s defense had 11 steals, 13 deflections, 17 rebounds and three blocked shots. Offensively the Lady Bulldogs shot 45 percent, had 11 assists and 13 offensive rebounds. Trenton only turned the ball over 13 times in the game.
The Trenton boys suffered a 25-point loss to the visitors in the final game of the night.
Jadan Whitney led all scorers with 15 points and Isaac Harris, Matthew Sibbit and Dalton Burchett all had 2 points each.
With the loss, the boys’ A team fell to 4-5 overall on the season.
B Games
The Trenton B teams split with South Harrison as well with the girls picking up their sixth win of the year. The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead and controlled both ends of the floor throughout the night, winning by 21 points in the end.

Lexi Whitaker led the way with 13 points while Maci Henson added eight. Kennedy Norton had four points and Haley Kidd, Allena Allen and McKayla Blackburn scored two points each.
With the win, the TMS B girls improved to 6-0 on the season.
The boys’ B game was a different story as Trenton fell to 0-6 on the season with a 43-17 loss. Nick Shields led Trenton with five points, Rodney Lawrence and Matthew Sibbitt added four each and Zane Rottman and Gabriel Swann both finished with two points each.
“Offensively we played better and our hustle is improving,” Coach Mike Tipton said. “We just have to keep working hard and learn more each day.”
All four Trenton Middle School basketball teams will return to action at home on Thursday. Trenton plays host to Gallatin with B games beginning at 4:30 p.m. and A games to follow at approximately 6:30.
