Elnora Ann Chrisman Knapp, a 71-year-old resident of Trenton, died on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 2, 2014 at Saint Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza in Kansas City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday Dec. 6, 2014 at the Union (Coon Creek) Baptist Church, west of Trenton, with Revs. Doug Crawford, Ron Ward, Marc Knapp and Tim Hughs officiating. Burial will be in Coon Creek Cemetery.
Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, 2014 at the Slater Funeral Home in Trenton.
Mrs. Knapp was born on Nov. 5, 1943 at Lindley, the daughter of Eldon George and Dorothy May Dowell Chrisman. She attended Lindley, Galt and Trenton schools.
She was married on March 4, 1962 to Donald Truman Knapp at Trenton, who was employed by the Rock Island Railroad, and the couple moved to Muscatine, IA. While living there they had three boys, Michael Donald, Marvin Dean and Marc DeWayne Knapp. The family returned to Trenton in 1979.
Mrs. Knapp was employed by Sunnyview Nursing Home for a while. She loved cooking, crafts, quilting, crocheting, baking, sewing, decorating and spending time with her family. She was a faithful member of the Union (Coon Creek) Baptist Church. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, sister, mom, aunt, grandma and friend. Her passion was serving the Lord and she was led to start the Thanksgiving meal outreach at Coon Creek in 1996. She was generous and kind to all and opened her heart and home to any and all. She loved Christmas and Rudolph. She was loved by her family, sons, grandchildren and friends.
Her survivors include three sons, Michael Knapp and his wife, Sherry and Marvin Knapp and his wife, Brandy, all of Trenton and Marc Knapp and his wife, Annette of Laurie; one sister, Rita Hughs and her husband, Robert of Trenton; 14 grandchildren, Micah, Maerissa, Mitchell, Marshall, Miles, Brittney, Joey, Samantha, Matheson, Matthew, Tiffany, Malachi, Marcail and Meliza; two great-grandchildren, Kayden and Arumn Knapp; one brother-in-law, Eugene Knapp and his wife, Marylea of Trenton; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Layson of Forsyth, and Gabe Chrisman of Branson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, Donald on Feb. 11, 2000; parents; grandparents, Minnie and Pearl Chrisman; three sisters, Georgia Mae Chrisman, Genelle “Nellie” Chrisman and Daisy May; two brothers, Eldon “Bud” Chrisman and Frank Layson; and two nephews, Steve W. May and Matt Chrisman.
Memorials are suggested to the Coon Creek Cemetery and may be left at the funeral home.
