William T. “Tom” Davidson Sr., a 92-year-old resident of Ottawa, KS and former Trenton resident, died on Sunday morning, Nov. 30, 2014 at Wellsville Retirement Village in Wellsville, KS.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014 at the Slater Funeral Home in Trenton with Rev. Dan Wilford officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
A family visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014 at the funeral home.
Mr. Davidson was born on April 22, 1922 in Trenton, the son of James Jesse and Marie Cecilia Kane Davidson. He attended Trenton schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II and retired from the Rock Island Railroad as an engineer. He was a life member of VFW Post No. 5901 of Ottawa and also a life member of Jayhawks DAV Post No. 22 of Lawrence, KS.
He was married at Papillion, NE on July 6, 1943 to Alma Stephens, who preceded him in death on July 24, 2002. He was then married in Kansas City on Jan. 10, 2004 to Helen Myles, who preceded him in death on June 3, 2011.
His survivors include one daughter, Linda Rodenberg and husband, Dennis of Henderson, NV; one son, Tom Davidson Jr. and his wife, Genny of Ottawa; five grandchildren, Julie Ford, Mark Davidson, Tommy Davidson and his wife, Wanda, Rebekah Dockery and her husband, Reginald and Aaron Davidson and his wife, Julie; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Dale Davidson, Jim Davidson, Ben Davidson and Felix Davidson.
Memorials are suggested to Vitas Innovative Hospice Care in Lenexa, KS. They may be left at the funeral home.
