Trenton JV Boys Improve To 2-0

Nov 26, 2014 | Basketball, Sports & Recreation

Trenton’s junior varsity boys’ basketball team took the floor prior to Trenton’s varsity doubleheader at East Buchanan on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs’ JV team came away with Trenton’s only win of the night, defeating the East Buchanan JV boys 46-29.
Trenton jumped out to a 17-2 lead in the first quarter and was in charge of the game the rest of the way. The Bulldogs’ lead was never threatened as Trenton held the advantage to the end, picking up a 17-point victory.
Trenton was paced by Connor Cotton, who scored a team-high 18 points. Corbyn Guile turned in another strong performance, scoring 16 points. Trenton also got four points from Colton Ellis, two from Hunter Dugan, two from Ryan Hines, two from Jarren King, one from Jonathan Lamp and one from Tucker Franklin.
“It was another good game for the JV,” Trenton Coach Travis Mullenix said. “Guile came out firing. He nailed four three-pointers in the first quarter to put us up 17-2. Connor Cotton had a great game. He scored consistently throughout the contest and played very tough. They both kind of put the team on their shoulders and carried us. Ellis had a couple of nice buckets in the fourth to help put the game away.”
The 2-0 Trenton JV boys will be back on the court on Monday, Dec. 1, traveling to Unionville to face Putnam County. Action tips off with a girls JV game at 6 p.m. and the boys’ JV contest will follow.
