Jadan Whitney puts up two of his team-high 12 points during the TMS boys’ A game win over Princeton. Whitney had eight rebounds as well.
The Trenton girls’ A team scored a 31-16 win to move to 2-0 on the season. Trenton had 18 steals, 20 turnovers and nine assists in the game while shooting 47 percent from the field and just 16 percent from the free throw line. The Lady Bulldogs pulled down 24 rebounds in the game. Individual scores were not reported.
“We didn’t play bad, we just had trouble putting the ball in the basket,” Lady Bulldogs’ head Coach Ched Hurley said. “We probably missed eight-to-10 chip shots or layups and couldn’t make a free throw, which is unusual for us because I think we are a pretty good free throw shooting team. We played real well defensively holding Princeton to four points each quarter in the first half and zero in the third quarter.”
Trenton’s boys’ A team found itself down by a point with 10 seconds left, but Dalton Burchett banked in two free throws to give Trenton a one-point lead that would hold.
Jadan Whitney led Trenton with 12 points and eight rebounds. Carson Radcliff had 10 points and Isaac Harris scored eight.
With the win, the Bulldogs moved to 1-1 on the season.
The TMS A teams will return to the court on Tuesday, taking on Princeton again in the first round of the Princeton Middle School Tournament. The girls hit the floor at 7 p.m. and the boys will follow.
Trenton’s B teams were both in action as well, taking on Princeton, but no results were available as of press time.
