The Rissler PTO board met on Tuesday, Nov 11 for a brief meeting, where Andrea Merrin opened the meeting by welcoming parents and children and discussing the purpose of PTO.
She reviewed the funds PTO has raised and the various projects for which those funds have been used. They include the purchase of playground equipment, picnic tables, food for grade parties, food and gifts for teacher appreciation day, microwaves for teachers, a projector and screen and a globe as well as for reimbursement for up to as much as $100 per each teacher for supplies they personally purchased for the students each year.
Mrs. Merrin also discussed the PTO book fair taking place this week and the chili supper, which will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the school. The public is invited to attend. The book fair will continue until 7 o’clock that night. She also discussed “Breakfast with Santa,” which is set for Friday, Dec 6 with more details to come.
The meeting ended with Family Reading night, where popcorn and gummy worms were served and both Mrs. Merrin and her husband, Steve read stories to the children in attendance..
