Rissler Students Observe 2014 Red Ribbon Week

Oct 30, 2014 | Headline News

R-T Photo/Ronda Lickteig It was “Super Hero Shirt Day” at Rissler Elementary School Wednesday as students are joining schools across the nation to celebrate safe and healthy, drug-free choices by observing Red Ribbon Week. On Wednesday, students were reminded that they have the power to say no to unhealthy choices and these boys were demonstrating their superhero power. Today’s theme was “Football/Soccer Shirt Day” with students reminded that they have goals and there are no drugs in their future. Friday’s theme will be “Animal Print/Camo Day,” with students demonstrating that they are “paws-itively” wild about being drug free. During the week, guidance counselors Leslie Woodard and Terri Critten are providing lessons on personal safety, identifying safe/unsafe situations and safe and healthy choices at home and school. Third and fourth grade students are being offered the opportunity to participate in a poster contest sponsored by the Trenton Elks Club, which also provided red ribbons to all students and staff members. Pictured showing their power to say no are, from left, front row, Brayden Bell, Matthew Brittain, Brodie Burgess and Jorge Sanchez; back row, Alex Harding, Parker Ishmael and Rylee Miles.
