A man who is possibly a suspect in a fatal fire in Trenton has committed suicide
According to the St. Joseph News-Press, multiple law enforcement officers had surrounded the home Monday in the McFall area after a man barricaded himself inside and fired at law enforcement officers.
The man, a 50-year-old white male, is believed to be a person of interest in the investigation into a dead body that was found in a burned out home in Trenton. No law enforcement officers were injured after police responded to a home near McFall, which is located near the Gentry-Daviess County line, shortly before 4 p.m. Monday.
Law enforcement apparently lost contact with the man. When officers entered the home, they found him dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted wound, officials said.
Authorities have not said exactly how the man was involved in the fire, which occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on Sunday at 602 Grundy St. The victim in that fire has not yet been identified and no cause of death has been announced. Law enforcement officers from multiple agencies were in Trenton on Tuesday taking part in the investigation.
More information on this case will appear in the Trenton Republican-Times as details become available.
