Entries for the 30th annual Missouri Day Festival parade continue to be received and the sponsoring Trenton Rotary Club is encouraging participants to pre-register for the Oct. 18 parade.
“Celebrating 30 years…Remembering the 80’s” is the theme as the festival is honored for 30 years in the Trenton community.
For the first time, entries are being taken online on a newly-created web page, missouridayparade.com. Persons are asked to complete the simple registration form as soon as possible.
Categories for judging include the overall prize winner, the Spirit of Missouri Day, with the best entry earning a $200 cash prize. A second prize of $100 is being awarded for the first time to the second-place winner. Additional cash prizes of $100 will be awarded to the best organizational entry, best business entry, best youth entry, best religious entry and $50 cash prizes to the best 80’s vehicle, best equestrian entry, best car or truck pre-and best car or truck post-1960. An additional $50 cash prize will be awarded to the best tractor entry-antique or restored. Other categories in the tractor competition will receive plaques and include recognition as the oldest tractor, best original tractor, best restored tractor and the tractor travelling the farthest distance for the parade.
Parade entries will once again line up on Crowder Road and adjacent streets with the parade route to originate at Crowder and Main Street, travelling to Ninth and Main and exiting from Ninth Street at Bulldog Avenue. All entries will follow this route with the exception of the marching bands, which will leave the parade at Normal Street to allow for the start of additional band competitions.
The 30th annual Missouri Day Parade rolls at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18 with thousands of participants expected to line the streets.
