P&Z Commission Turns Down Conditional Use Permit Request

Oct 8, 2014 | Headline News

The Trenton Planning and Zoning Commission held two public hearings on Monday night at city hall, turning down a conditional use permit request and recommending a variance request for approval by the Trenton City Council.
The commission turned down a request from Steven Hyde on behalf of Jason Benson for a conditional use permit at property located at 214 W. 11th St. The property, once the home of Gov. Arthur Hyde, was being proposed to house a supervised and program-oriented residency. City Attorney Tara Walker said that commission found that the request did not meet the required criteria listed under the city’s conditional use permit ordinance.
The second request, from Dale and Leona Kinion for a front-yard setback variance, was approved unanimously. They plan to build a new structure on property at 1711 Cedar.
The conditional use permit request will go to the city council for consideration on Monday, Oct. 27.
Variance requests are not required to have city council action if approved by the planning and zoning commission.
