The Trenton Middle School softball team wrapped up its 2014 season on Saturday, hosting the Trenton Tournament. Trenton went 2-1 in the round-robin tournament to place second overall.
Trenton opened play against North Harrison, picking up a 9-3 victory. Ainsley Tolson threw five innings, allowing just two hits while striking out 13. Salem Croy led the team at the plate, going two-for-three with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Lexi Whitaker had a triple and two runs scored and Mykah Hurley had a hit and a run. Taylor Richman had a hit and two steals, Sidney Lynch had a double and Sara Spencer added a hit for Trenton.
In game two, the Lady Bulldogs suffered their only loss of the day, a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Marceline. Tolson threw six innings, allowing two runs on one hit and three walks and striking out 13. Hurley and Croy each had doubles in the loss and Richman added a hit as well.
The final game saw Trenton bounce back with a 15-0 win over Milan. Tolson threw one frame, striking out three and McKayla Blackburn threw two innings and also struck out three.
At the plate, Tolson was three-for-three with three runs scored. Richman was one-for-two with a double and two runs and Croy was two-for-two with an RBI. Spencer had a double and a run, Whitaker had a hit, run and RBI and Lynch and Blackburn both had one hit and one run scored.
The Trenton Middle School softball team finished its 2014 campaign with a 12-2 record overall.
