Communication is a key component to a strong relationship and the Trenton R-9 Parent and Student Portals offers a great tool that allows parents and students to keep up-to-date on grades, homework assignments, attendance, and plus more pieces of information that involves students. Many families in the Trenton R-9 District are familiar with the Parent and Student Portals and some families may be logging on to the portals for the first time. I hope that this week’s Bulldog Bark can provide some refresher knowledge to those familiar families and some basic instructions for those families using the portals for the first time.
Who can use the Trenton R-9 Parent and Student portals? Just as the names state, any parent or guardian of Trenton R-9 students have access to the parent portal. In addition, any student enrolled in the Trenton R-9 District has a Student Portal Account.
How do I access the Parent and Student portals? As a parent who has previously signed up for the Parent Portal, you will continue to have access to the website even as your child or children move from grade to grade and even from building to building. If your email changes, contact your child’s school office and notify them of the change to keep the Parent Portal working. If you are a parent that has never signed up for the Parent Portal, visit your child’s school to receive a Parent Portal registration-agreement form. The parent will need an email address to complete the form, and once the form is completed, the parent will receive an email starting them on the process of viewing the Parent Portal. The school office will also have handouts with instructions to make the process of visiting the Parent Portal easier. As a student in the Trenton R-9 District, then you already have an account that is accessible through the Student Portal. Just visit the Trenton R-9 website at www.trentonr9.k12.mo.us and click the SIS Portals link. Make sure the student tab is selected and then enter your four digit lunch pin as your Student ID; and your birthday, as a two digit month, two digit day, and two digit year, as the password.
Now that you can access the portals, what can parents and students view after logging in to these sites? Parents and students can view up-to-date grades, homework assignments, attendance, discipline referrals, lunch charges and assessment scores. The bulletins for each of the three buildings in the district can be viewed from the portals as well as email links to the student’s teachers. The Parent and Student portals are great locations to view all of the academic and school related information concerning the students of the Trenton R-9 District.
When and where can you access the Parent and Student Portals? Parents and students have access to the portals 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As soon as teachers, or the office, enter information into the portal or gradebooks, parents and students will be able to view the information. Parents and students can view the portals on any device that has internet connection.
In closing, the parent and student portal is intended to keep the communication open among students, parents and teachers. Communication is key to a strong relationship and at Trenton R-9 we are striving to prepare contributing, capable, and caring students.
