The Trenton High School girls’ tennis team was dealt a 9-0 loss at the hands of the Benton Lady Cardinals Tuesday afternoon at the THS tennis courts in Trenton.
Alvynne Villacampa came the closest to pulling off an upset, falling 8-5 in the number-one singles spot. Hannah Sowder fell 8-1, Ashley Allen lost 8-3, Claire Utley fell 8-0, Hannah Robinson lost 8-4 and Hannah Farmer fell 8-3.
In doubles play, Villacampa and Allen lost 8-1, Sowder and Robinson lost 8-1 and Utley and Farmer fell 8-2.
Trenton’s JV was 2-2 on the day. Samantha Milhalovich and Alainey Shipley-Fair lost 6-3 and Cassidy Trump and Abbie Shuler split, dropping one match 6-2 and winning their other match 6-4. Milhalovich picked up a 6-1 singles win.
Trenton’s tennis team returns to the courts Thursday, hosting Chillicothe at 4 p.m.
