Applications to participate in the 2014 Youth Trenton Leadership program continue to be accepted, with the program set to kick off on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
Community Developer Ralph Boots, who is organizing the program, said applications are available by contacting him at city hall, 359-4310. There is a $100 fee for the class, however, that cost is being covered through donations by program sponsors. The class size is limited. The program is open to high school students, freshman through sophomore.
A graduate of the youth leadership program, Alex Anderson, will be the speaker at the Sept. 30 kickoff dinner, which will be held at the North Central Missouri College Barton Campus. The dinner will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and will include an overview of the program, which includes Tuesday night sessions through Nov. 18. Participants will learn the history and the workings of their community through classes and tours. They will also learn “how to build a resume” as well as take part in mock job interviews, public speaking and a poverty simulation.
