The Grundy R-5 High School softball teams were in Pattonsburg on Monday night as the Lady Panthers took on Pattonsburg and the Panthers played Jefferson. Neither Grundy squad came away with a victory as the R-5 girls lost 13-0 and the R-5 boys fell 13-3.
In the girls game, Grundy was no-hit through five innings and the Lady Panthers committed four errors in the field. Kelsey Bummer had Grundy’s lone highlight with a great catch in left field.
The R-5 boys didn’t fare much better as Jefferson jumped out to an 11-0 lead before the Panthers ever scored. Mason Radcliff was 2-for-3 with an RBI to pace the Grundy offense. Jonathon Stimpson had a hit and a run scored and Mathew McLain drove in a run.
Both Grundy R-5 teams fell to 1-2 on the season with the losses. The Lady Panthers and Panthers both return to action this week in the HDC Conference Tournament, which begins on Wednesday in Bethany.
